Today was a good reminder why our Literature Distribution Centers are so valuable.
I was on a Zoom meeting, and a new member joined who lives in the hills of Western North Carolina. She lives with her spouse, an alcoholic, and talked about the storms that have affected her small community. Our group discussed ways to be helpful and mentioned the new booklet, Healing Within Our Alcoholic Relationships.
The booklet costs only $4, but shipping from the World Service Office is a $10 minimum charge. There is no Literature Distribution Center within a 3-hour drive of her home.
The group agreed that we can mail a booklet to her as a sign of our welcome, and she shared her address and phone number with us. Postage for the booklet is less than $2.
Now, we can work with our Middle Tennessee literature office to easily share a lifeline with someone who is a lone member in a rural community.
